Land's end, Version I, Cape Cornwall, 2008, Exhibition view, "Am Sprung", Linz. According to Sloterdijk one can only conquer what successfully could be reduced by one dimension. In October 2008 Mahony decided to steal the first end of the world which is supposed to be the first one in a long row of world ends (such as the region Finistère in Brétagne, Cabo de Finisterre in Spain or also the most southern point in South America, nearby Ushuaia). Therefore they went on a trip to Cornwall, Great Britain, in order to chip off this ancient end of the world, and came back with two ends.

As soon as computers and copiers switched to standby at the end of business each day, they literally unpacked precious archival materials, dismantled furniture and shuffled the daily detritus that constitutes this 9 to 5 working environment. Removing glasses from kitchen cupboards, books from library shelves, and beds from bedrooms, mahony rearranged these materials into temporary interventions, lasting only long enough to be photographed in the midnight hours, before returning them precisely to their ordinary positions before the 9am log-on".(Austrian Cultural Institut/London)

Happy End Maschine, Performance / Sculpture, The Happy End Maschine was constructed to enable an individual to film a 3-minute final scene. Once the appropriate background has been chosen, the machines cinemascope-frame must be adjusted and a camera attached to the machines tripod. To start the film rolling one must sit on the saddle, turn on the speaker and start pedalling. After three minutes a chain driven by the pedals, moves the script the end through the frame.
